I have never had a home inspection, what should I expect?

You should expect the property to be thoroughly evaluated to the InterNACHI Standards of Practice and that your inspector will do their absolute best to give you an unbiased assessment of the property based on it's condition at the time of the inspection.

Do I have to be there for the whole inspection?

While we encourage clients to be at the home during the inspection we also understand if it is difficult to carve out several hours from your day. Also, as mentioned, every home is different. We can also schedule a separate set time for your walk through if you would prefer. Walk throughs can typically last between 30 minutes to an hour depending on questions.

How long does it take to inspect a property?

The national average time for a home inspection is about 2.5-3 hours. There are several hundred categories which break down into thousands of reportable areas. Experience has taught us larger and older homes tend to require more time. However, even newer smaller homes can surprise even the most seasoned of inspectors. For the same reason as an inspector I hire a realtor despite having been one. A professional in that industry brings experience, efficiency, equipment, certifications, and insurance. They focus and hone their craft in their respective fields to a razor sharp edge and in exchange they provide that service to clients saving them years of study and practice

Your business cards say you have a closing gift?

If you do hanyman work, can you fix something you found during an inspection?

InterNACHI standards of practice state "The InterNACHI® member shall not perform or offer to perform, for an additional fee, any repairs or associated services to the structure for which the member or member's company has prepared a home inspection report for a period of 12 months."...
